Philomena "Phyllis" (Russo) Leonardo

Philomena Leonardo, fondly known as "Phyllis", 79, of Old Bridge, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.  She was born Philomena Russo on November 7, 1943 in Staten Island, New York.  Phyllis grew up in Staten Island and remained there to raise her family.  In 2017, she settled in Old Bridge, New Jersey.  Before her retirement, Phyllis worked as the Controller for Aspen Knolls Corporation, a building company located on Woodrow Road in Staten Island, New York, for many years.  Phyllis loved her family above all else.  She had a truly good and loving soul and never hesitated to help anyone in need.  Her passing will affect the many people whose lives she touched.

Phyllis was a successful business woman who gave her all to not only her career, but her community as well.  She was always the life of the party and brought joy to everyone around her.  She enjoyed baking and was well known for her delicious desserts.  She had a true decorator's touch and always made her surroundings beautiful.  She enjoyed decorating for each and every holiday.  She was also an avid bowler.

Her grandchildren brought her infinite joy and she was the best "Nana" anyone could have.

Phyllis fought long and hard to stay, but the time had come for her to find a much deserved peace.  She will be missed each and every day.

She was predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Anna (Daluise) Russo, her husband, Joseph Leonardo (1982), her brother, Anthony Russo, and her son-in-law, Kevin Sweeney.  Phyllis is survived by her loving children, Krista Sweeney of Manalapan, New Jersey, and Frank Cannizzaro and his wife, Melanie, of Lincroft, her beloved long-time companion, Michael Abruzese, and her cherished grandchildren, Brooke Sweeney, Kevin Sweeney, Frank Cannizzaro Jr., Joseph Cannizzaro, and Nicholas Cannizzaro.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, March 12, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Monday morning, March 13, 2023 from 9:00 to 9:45 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday morning, March 13, 2023 at 10:30 AM at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, 81 Throckmorton  Lane, Old Bridge, New Jersey 08857.  Interment will follow at Moravian Cemetery, 2205 Richmond Road, Staten Island, New York.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
