Peter P. McNally, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and devoted community volunteer, passed away on June 17, 2026, in Red Bank, New Jersey, at the age of 84.
Born on June 30, 1941, in the Bronx, New York, he was the son of the late Peter and Lydia (Daly) McNally. He was a proud native of the Bronx, where he was born and raised, and he carried that pride with him throughout his life. After graduating from Cardinal Hayes High School, he went on to earn both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in finance, preparing him for a successful professional career and a lifetime of thoughtful service to others.
Peter spent his final 50 years in Hazlet with his beloved wife, Dorothy E. (Kilgallen) McNally, where they built a home filled with love, family, and lasting memories. Together they raised their three children and created a strong family foundation that remained central to his life. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, his son Peter P. McNally Jr. and his wife Jennifer, his son Kevin T. McNally and his wife Madeleine, his daughter Celine McNally, and his grandchildren Rory McNally, James McNally, and Libby McNally. His family was the heart of his world, and he took great pride in each of them.
Peter retired after a distinguished career as a consultant and an accountant for a number of major financial institutions. He brought intelligence, discipline, and a steady work ethic to all that he did. Those who knew him professionally respected his knowledge and appreciated his thoughtful manner. He approached his work with integrity and carried that same sense of responsibility into every other part of his life.
Outside of work, Peter was a man of wide interests and deep loyalties. He was a lifelong Yankees fan and witnessed 19 World Series titles during his lifetime, though he was never fully satisfied with the team’s recent performance. He was also a season ticket holder for the New York Giants, winners of four Super Bowls, and especially enjoyed sharing those experiences with his family. Sports were more than entertainment to him. They were part of the rhythm of his life and a source of joy, conversation, and connection.
Peter was also deeply committed to his community. Whether he was coaching or refereeing, he always made time to volunteer and help children in baseball, basketball, and soccer. He gave generously of his time and energy, and he believed in showing up for others in practical and meaningful ways. His involvement in Saint Benedict’s Parish and the Knights of Columbus was extraordinary, and he became a familiar and trusted presence in the community. He was a fixture at local volunteer efforts, including pancake breakfasts, the food pantry, and any opportunity to serve. His willingness to help, along with his kind and dependable nature, left a lasting impression on many.
Peter will be remembered as a loving man whose life was defined by family, faith, service, and loyalty. He was a devoted husband, a proud father and grandfather, and a steady friend to many. His presence enriched the lives of those around him, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
