Morris Tetro Obituary

Morris J. Tetro, 90, of Holmdel, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on May 16, 2022. He was born on November 14, 1931, in Jersey City and grew up in Belleville. Morris was a graduate of Belleville High School and attended Rutgers University. In 1956, he married his beloved wife, Elinor Ryan, and settled in Union Beach to raise their family and start his businesses, Morris Tetro Construction and Tetro Enterprises. He later moved to Holmdel to be closer to his grandchildren.

Morris enjoyed bowling, softball, and was an avid sports fan, especially when it came to the New York Giants. However, his favorite thing to do was spend time with his six grandchildren and he could always be found cheering them on from the sidelines of their sporting events. He was a very active parishioner of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, where he received the Holy Name Society’s Man of the Year Award in 1996, and loved to help out the church wherever needed, especially volunteering for the annual parish carnival. Morris was a fourth-degree Knight of Columbus and a member of the Holy Name Society.  He was always known to lend a helping hand to those in need and was very involved in assisting others in their rebuilding efforts following Hurricane Sandy. He was a beloved father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend, who will never be forgotten.

Morris was predeceased by his parents Joseph Sr. and Mamie (Galtieri) Tetro, his wife Elinor (Ryan) Tetro, and brothers Rocco and Dominick Tetro. He is survived by his loving children Maryellen Santopadre and her husband Gil, and Joanne Casey and her husband Kevin, his beloved grandchildren Stephanie and her husband Jason, Alyssa and her fiancé Kevin, Alex, Michael, Megan, and Jack. He is also survived by his brothers William Tetro and Joseph Tetro Jr. and his wife Donna, sister-in-law Eileen Nasto, as well as many loving nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. Morris’ family would like to thank his caregiver, Angel, for her years of wonderful care and compassion extended to him and his family.
