Miriam Pozo

Miriam Pozo, a loving and devoted woman whose life was centered on family, faith, and care for others, passed away on June 30, 2026, in Holmdel, New Jersey, at the age of 102.

Born on June 9, 1924, in Puerto Rico, Miriam was the daughter of the late Pedro and Ernestina (Luciano) Pozo. She was raised in Puerto Rico, where she spent her early years surrounded by the traditions, values, and close family ties that would remain with her throughout her life. Those roots shaped the kind, generous, and steadfast woman she became, and they remained a source of pride and strength to her for all of her days.

In 1957, Miriam moved to Manhattan, beginning a new chapter in her life with courage and determination. She later moved to Matawan, New Jersey, in 1983, and finally settled in Keyport in 1987, where she resided with her family. Wherever she lived, Miriam made a home filled with warmth, care, and devotion. She was known for her loving nature and for the deep affection she showed to those around her. Her presence brought comfort and stability, and her family always knew they could count on her.

Miriam was a retired hospital worker at Columbia Presbyterian, where she dedicated her working years to helping others. Her career reflected the same compassion and quiet strength that defined her personal life. She approached her work with responsibility and care, and she was respected for her steady presence and commitment. The service she gave to others extended beyond her occupation, as she lived each day with a generous spirit and a sincere concern for the well-being of those she loved.

Family was the heart of Miriam’s life. She was truly devoted to her family and found great joy in being surrounded by them. She loved shopping for herself and for all of her family, always thinking of others and taking pleasure in making them happy. Her thoughtfulness and affection were expressed in countless everyday ways, and her loved ones will remember her for the special attention she gave to each of them. She is survived by her niece Vivian De Los Santos, and her husband, Luis. She is also survived by many other nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews, all of whom will cherish her memory.

Miriam was predeceased by her siblings, Gloria Rodriguez, Myrta Pozo, and Louis Pozo. She leaves behind a family who will continue to honor her life by remembering her loving heart, her devotion, and the example she set through her kindness and strength. Her long life was a testament to resilience, family loyalty, and enduring love.

Miriam Pozo will be remembered with deep affection by all who knew her. Her life was rich in family, filled with care for others, and marked by the quiet dignity of a woman who gave much and asked little in return. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
