Minas Papazoglou, 77, of Union Beach, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Care One King James in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey. Minas was born on May 17, 1942 in Athens, Greece, where he grew up. On December 13, 1964, Minas and his wife, Antonia, were married in Greece, where they began their life and family together. In May of 1974, they immigrated to the United States, starting their life in West Orange, New Jersey. A few years later in 1978, they relocated to Irvington, New Jersey, before settling in Union Beach in 1995. Before retirement, Minas worked as an Electrician for many years.
Minas was very proud of his Greek heritage. After his retirement, he would always make time every year to visit Greece and enjoy the beach. Above all else, Minas adored his family. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and was lovingly known as "Papou" by all of his grandchildren, and even their friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Lazaros and Despina (Zigiridis) Papazoglou. Minas is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 55 years, Antonia (Neofotistos) Papazoglou, his loving children, Lazaros Papazoglou of Milford, Connecticut, and Despina Kirby and her husband, Donald, of Union Beach, and his dear brother, Evangelos Papazoglou and his wife, Vaso. Minas is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Antonet Loizou and her husband, Andrew, Nickolas Kirby and his fiancé, Jamie Craig, Jacob Papazoglou and Alexa Papazoglou, along with his adored great grandson, Panayiotis Loizou and many special nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Minas will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, February 9, 2020 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.
