Michael “Mick” Joseph Augustitus II, our 5-year-old precious angel, passed away on October 10, 2026, at CHOP in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, surrounded by the love of his family. Mick was born in Morristown, New Jersey on January 26, 2021. His life was spent with the love of his parents and siblings, living in Hazlet, New Jersey.
Mick was the devoted son of Michael Scott and Alison Marie (Picariello) Augustitus, who loved him beyond measure and cherished every moment they shared with him. He was a true mama’s boy and made sure throughout the day to tell his mom that he loved her. He also loved helping his dad around the house with any kind of housework, always eager to be by his side. Mick looked up to his older sisters, Madyson and Brinley, and admired them so much, while also being a little role model for his younger sister, Veyda. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Diane Picariello, and his paternal grandparents, Michael Joseph and Cheryl Augustitus. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Ronald Picariello. As a nephew, Mick also leaves behind his aunts, Melissa Picariello and her fiancé Louie Fojut, Cheri Picariello and Tara Guitierrez, great aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Mick lived his life with a pure and joyful spirit that reflected the love surrounding him. He loved cars and playing soccer and hockey, and anyone who watched Mick play will forever remember his unforgettable victory dance whenever he scored a goal. His excitement was contagious, and those little moments of pure happiness are memories that everyone will treasure forever. He also loved and treasured being outdoors, playing, running around, and getting as dirty as any little boy could. He was happiest just being a kid and enjoying the simple little things in life.
Winter was Mick’s favorite season. He loved playing in the snow, and his family will forever think of him when the first snowflakes begin to fall. He will also be remembered for his special love for pancakes and soda, some of the little things that easily brought a smile to his face and made him so wonderfully himself. These simple joys were part of what made Mick so endearing, and they remain treasured memories for those who loved him most.
Mick was so much more than his cancer diagnosis. He was his family’s precious boy, their fighter, their heart, and a light in the lives of everyone who was lucky enough to know him. Throughout his journey, he showed a strength no child should ever have to find, and his family is reminded that incredible courage can live inside the smallest bodies. Though his time here was far too short, the love he gave and the love he inspired will endure always. He will be forever loved, never forgotten, and always missed.
In lieu of flowers donations in loving memory of Mick to the Frances Foundation at https://www.francesfoundation.net would be greatly appreciated. In respect of his family’s wishes, Mick will be privately cremated.
