Michael F. Rodriguez, known affectionately as Mike to his friends and family, passed away on September 8, 2024, in New Jersey, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Born on January 17, 1960, to Henry &Josephine Rodriguez in Brooklyn, New York shortly thereafter moving to Staten Island, New York where he grew up.
Mike graduated from Susan Wagner High School and furthered his education at the College of Staten Island and DeVry University which paved the way for a successful career as a systems engineer at HCL of America. His professional achievements were only surpassed by his dedication to his family and the joy he found in life's simple pleasures.
A loving husband to Doreen Rodriguez, Mike was also a cherished brother to Marie Leide and Theresa (Ralph) Shattock. He was a devoted father to Nicolas (Jessica) Rodriguez, Kristen (Anthony) Tolomello, John (Christina) DeBiase, Thomas DeBiase, and Nicholas DeBiase. His role as a grandfather to Viviana, Alessia, Jackson, Jameson, Salvatore, John and Violet. And a cherished son in-law to Elizabeth (Betty) Putore.
Mike's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and taking vacations. Also, he supported the special Olympics by doing the Polar Bear Plunge every February. A true sports enthusiast, he loyally supported the Mets, Giants, and Rangers. He also cherished playing games with his grandchildren.
Remembered as loving, funny, and wise, Mike's legacy is one of joy, resilience, and the enduring power of family. His memory will be held in the hearts of his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, as well as the countless friends and family whose lives he touched. Mike's spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM and on Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 8:45 AM to 9:30 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 727 NJ-36, Union Beach, New Jersey 07735. In respect of Mike’s wishes he will be privately cremated.
