Maureen Keelan, 70, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Maureen was born on March 31, 1954, to her parents James and Catherine Keelan (nee Milne), and was the first child in what became known as the Keelan Clan of Mallory Avenue, Jersey City. Maureen grew up in Jersey City, where she lived for most of her life, before relocating to Whiting in 2009. Ultimately in 2021, she settled in Hazlet.
Maureen attended St. Aloysius Elementary and High School and graduated from St. Peter’s college. Upon graduation, she started her lifelong career with the New Jersey Bell Telephone Company. Maureen loved and supported her ever-expanding family. As her siblings married and had children, Maureen enjoyed participating in every family gathering and celebration. She was especially caring and generous with her cherished nieces and nephews.
Throughout her life, she loved playing Bingo, cooking, trying new restaurants, traveling and taking trips to Atlantic City. She loved the many senior bus rides she scheduled throughout the US and was a big fan of the New York Yankees. She was also active as a board member in her Manchester community. Most of all, Maureen was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten by all whose lives she touched.
She was predeceased by her parents, James and Catherine (Milne) Keelan, her dear niece, Kaitlyn Rose Ward, and her common-law husband, Ken Mintz. Maureen is survived by her loving brothers and sisters, James Keelan of Lakewood, Andrew Keelan and his wife, Patricia, of Hazlet, Judith Ward and her husband, Leonard, of Hillsborough, Kathleen Iannaccone and her husband, Michael, of Sayreville, and Margaret Keelan of Jersey City, and her cherished nieces and nephews, TJ Keelan, Bryan Keelan, Emmet Ward, Kristy Ward, Drew Keelan, Breanna Keelan, Michael Iannaccone, and Daniel Iannaccone.
