Matthew A. Baldassano Sr., 86, passed away on August 5, 2023. Matt was born and raised in Staten Island, New York, where he met and married his bride, Gloria (Curitore) Baldassano. Matt and Gloria’s love story lasted 66 years. In 1984, Matt and Gloria moved to Middletown, New Jersey, and later to Manchester, New Jersey. Matt and Gloria were also Foster Parents to 8 beautiful infants from the New York Foundling organization.
Matt spent his 38 year career at Procter & Gamble in Port Ivory, Staten Island, where he held various positions. He was a proud member of the United States National Guard, New York division. Matt was also known for always being there to help family, friends, and neighbors. He was an innovator of tools, owned a lawn mower repair company and loved to build and repair almost anything. Matt will be remembered as a strong man who loved and would do anything for his family. He is loved and adored and will remain in our hearts forever.
Matthew is pre-deceased by his parents, Paul and Rose Baldassano, and his brother, Salvatore Baldassano. He is survived by his devoted wife Gloria, his children, Maryann Antenucci and Matthew Baldassano Jr., his grandchildren Jamie Antenucci, Julie Antenucci, Ava Baldassano and Olivia Baldassano who affectionately knew him as Pop Pop. Matt is also survived by his brother, Paul Baldassano, loving family members Jeffrey Antenucci and Irene Caffrey, and many other extended family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial visitation on Thursday, August 10, 2023, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey, 07730. On Friday morning, at 10:00AM, guests are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel, NJ, 07733.
