Mary Jo( Calabrese) Romano, 65, of Port Monmouth, New Jersey, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, New Jersey. Mary Jo was born on March 6, 1959, in Jersey City, New Jersey. She grew up in Rutherford, New Jersey and Long Branch, New Jersey. Later in life, Mary Jo met, and married James Romano and they settled in Port Monmouth, New Jersey. She retired from Meeker Sharkey, Cranford, New Jersey where she worked in Accounting for many years.
Mary Jo very much enjoyed sitting in the sun and reading a good book. She was also an avid gardener, tending to her vegetable garden and watching her beautiful Iris’s grow. Some of the wonderful traits that she will be most remembered for are taking care of other people, being strong, determined and especially courageous. Mary Jo will be forever loved, never forgotten, and always missed.
She is predeceased by her beloved parents, Joseph, and Pauline (Fodaro) Calabrese. Surviving is her loving husband, James Romano, her devoted daughter, Katherine Grigsby Macchia, her cherished granddaughter, Sofia and a caring brother, Joseph Calabrese.
Arrangements were entrusted to Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.
