Mary E. (Herrity) Nusbaum

Mary E. Nusbaum, 84, of Matawan, New Jersey,  fondly know as Betty, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on June 6th, 2022, at Bayshore Medical Center.  Betty was born on October 8th, 1937, to James and Rosalie Wildgen Herrity in Matawan, New Jersey, where she grew up and raised her family.  Betty was a proud life long resident of Matawan. She married Irving Nusbaum on June 21, 1958, and celebrated 64 years of marriage together.  They raised two wonderful sons together. She attended St. Joseph Elementary School and graduated from Matawan High School in 1955, where she was a Majorette and member of the National Honor Society. Mary worked as a secretary for the Ross W. Maghan Insurance Agency in Matawan for 55 years retiring in 2010.

Betty is predeceased by her parents James and Rosalie (Wildgen) Herrity, and her brother Eugene P. Herrity. She is survived by her loving husband, Irving Nusbaum, her children James Nusbaum and his wife Karin of Matawan, New Jersey and Robert Nusbaum and wife Kathryn of Mooresville, North Carolina, her grandchildren Cory Nusbaum, Kyle Nusbaum, Lydia Nusbaum, and Maddie Nusbaum, and many other extended family and friends.

"Grandmom" would never miss a chance to cheer for her grandchildren at sporting events, concerts and school functions. She enjoyed the beaches of New Jersey, especially Ocean City, and Cape May, where many family vacations were shared. She loved celebrating holidays surrounded by family, traveling on cruise ships and exciting vacations with her husband Irv and their dear friends.  She was also an avid quilter and enjoyed making baby blankets for the children of loved ones. She will be deeply missed, never forgotten, and eternally loved, especially by her four grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to visit at Shore Point Funeral Home, 3269 Highway 35 North, Hazlet, NJ, 07730, on Thursday, June 9th, 2022, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM and 7:00PM to 9:00PM and Friday, June 10th, 2022, from 10:00AM to 11:00AM. Prayers will be offered at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 7:30 PM.  Interment will follow in the family burial space at Old Tennant Cemetery, 454 Tennent Road, Tennent, NJ, 07763 at approximately 11:30AM.
