Mary E. (Makely) Heckel

Mary E. Heckel, 85, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Jersey Shore University Hospital in Neptune, New Jersey.  She was born Mary E. Makely on December 11, 1934 in Jersey City, where she was raised.  After marriage, Mary and her husband, Kenneth, settled in Hazlet in 1959, where they remained to raise their family.  While living in Hazlet, Mary worked for International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF) in the accounts receivable department for many years.  Mary was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth (Stovar) Makely and her beloved husband, Kenneth A. Heckel.  Mary is survived by her loving children, Kim Buckley of Austin, Texas, Kenneth Heckel of Hazlet, Keith Heckel and his wife, Joyce, of South Plainfield, and Kathleen Smith and her husband, Kenneth, of Ramsey.  She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Jack Buckley, Kelly Kinard, Lisa Kyle, Keith Heckel, Jenna Becker, Kaitlyn Smith and Kristyn Smith, and her adored great grandchildren, Kiley, Kate, Graham, and Ford.  Mary will be sadly missed and never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, August 28, 2020 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday morning, August 29, 2020 from 9:00 to 9:45 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday morning, August 29, 2020 at 10:30 AM at The Catholic Church of St. Ann, 311 Carr Avenue, Keansburg, New Jersey 07734.  Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington, New Jersey.  In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of Mary to The Catholic Church of St. Ann would be greatly appreciated.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
