Mary E. Bump, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, at the age of 96 in Hazlet, NJ. Born on February 16, 1929, in Bridgeport, CT, Mary was the cherished daughter of the late Lee and Florence (Flanagan) Morton. In 1955, Mary, alongside her husband Judson, moved to Hazlet, NJ, where they planted roots and raised their family. Mary's home was always filled with laughter and love. She was the heart and soul of her family, a guiding light through the years.
Mary's professional life was marked by a remarkable 25-year tenure as a telephone assistant operator with NJ Bell Telephone, from which she retired in 1991. Her dedication to her work was only surpassed by her commitment to her faith and her family. As a devout Christian, Mary's faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing her with strength and solace throughout her years.
Known for her loving nature, Mary was a friend to all and a stranger to none. Her kindness touched the lives of many, and her gentle spirit was a source of comfort and joy to those around her. Mary's ability to listen, her wise counsel, and her unwavering support were gifts she generously shared with her community.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, her husband Judson, her son Garret, and her brother Harvey Morton. Her legacy lives on through her cherished daughter Ellen L. Bump. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Lori Bump.
