Martin "Marty" C Fiasconaro

Martin C. Fiasconaro, fondly known as Marty, age 74, of Matawan, New Jersey, passed away peacefully, with his loving family by his side, on July 3, 2026, at Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel, New Jersey.

Born on July 5, 1951, in Brooklyn, New York, Marty was the beloved son of the late Paul and Frances Fiasconaro. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, where he developed the values, faith, and strong sense of family that guided him throughout his life. A proud Christian, Marty carried himself with kindness, humility, and a deep devotion to the people he loved.

Marty met the love of his life, Ellen Quigley, and the two were married on April 6, 1974. Their marriage was a lasting partnership built on love, loyalty, and shared adventure. In 1988, they moved to Staten Island, where they made their home for many years before later relocating to the Matawan area of New Jersey, where they continued to raise their family and build a life filled with treasured memories.

A lifelong lover of education, Marty devoted many years of service to Brooklyn Studio Secondary School in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, New York, where he served as a dedicated principal. He believed deeply in the power of learning and remained curious and engaged throughout his life. His commitment to students, teachers, and the school community reflected his intelligence, leadership, and steady character. He was respected not only for his professional dedication, but also for the genuine care and encouragement he extended to others.

Marty’s faith and community involvement were important parts of his life. While attending Brooklyn College, he was active in the Newmans Club, where he formed friendships and strengthened the values that remained central to him. He later served as Director of Sports Programs at Saint Clare Roman Catholic Church in Staten Island, New York, and was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #1662. Through these roles, he shared his time, energy, and spirit with others in meaningful ways.

Above all else, Marty was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen Quigley Fiasconaro, and his cherished daughters,  Stacie Re and her husband John, Margaret Fiasconaro and her partner William Schin, Frances Fiasconaro and her husband Matthew Ludwig, and Katie Bono and her husband Chris. He was a proud and adoring grandfather to Ava Burke, John Re, Grace Re, Sophia Bono, Emma Fiasconaro, Francesca Bono, and Christopher Bono. His grandchildren lovingly called him Pop-Pop, a name that reflected the warmth, joy, and affection he brought into their lives.

Marty and Ellen shared an active and joyful social life, enjoying trips to Atlantic City, cruises, and travel around the world. He embraced adventure and appreciated the experiences that brought people together and created lasting memories. He also enjoyed cheering for the Mets and the Knicks, following his teams with the enthusiasm of a true fan. Those who knew him will remember him as loving, adventurous, and intelligent, with a generous heart and a steady presence that made others feel welcome and valued.

Marty will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His life was marked by devotion to family, faith, education, and community, and his memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to those who were fortunate enough to share in his life.

A mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 9,2026 at Saint Benedict Roman Catholic Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel, New Jersey  07733.
