Martha (Zayas) Velez

Martha Velez, 87, of Holmdel, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, June 24, 2022 at Arnold Walter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Holmdel.  She was born Martha Zayas on July 29, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York, where she grew up.  Martha met her beloved husband, Henry, and after their marriage their remained in Brooklyn, New York to raise their family.  In 2002, they retired to Las Vegas, Nevada; she loved the years she spent living in Las Vegas.  After her husband's passing in 2010, she returned to Brooklyn, New York and in 2022, settled in Holmdel.  Before her retirement, Martha worked as a social worker and she was also devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Gloria (Soto) Zayas, her beloved husband, Henry Velez Sr., and her loving sons, Henry Velez Jr., and Jack Velez.  Martha is survived by her loving grandchildren, Carrice Velinskie and her husband, William, Henry Velez III and his wife, Kasey, Christopher Velez, Alexandar Rolon, and Abigal Rolon, her adopted grandchildren, Elaine Montero, Brian Montero Jr., Alyssa Rolon, Laila Gokbak, Nyleese Arias, Nyla Arias, and her cherished great grandchildren, Charlotte Velinskie, Wyatt Velinskie, Logan Velez, Charlie Velez, Mateo Velez, and Gianna Velez, her treasured daughter-in-law, Jocelyn Rolon, and her dear friend, Linda Stewart.
