Marian E. Welch, age 81, of Holmdel, New Jersey, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side, on April 7, 2026, at Care One, Holmdel, New Jersey. She was born on February 5, 1945, in Orange, New Jersey, and lived a life marked by love, kindness, creativity, and devotion to the people she held dear.
Marian was born in Orange, New Jersey and, at the age of 10, moved with her family to Middletown, New Jersey, where she spent her formative years. It was there that she grew into the warm and caring woman so many came to know and admire. She later met the love of her life, William Welch, and they were married in September of 1969. Together, they built a life centered on family, commitment, and enduring love. In 1995, Marian and her family moved to Keyport, New Jersey, where she remained and continued to make a home filled with comfort, strength, and affection.
Marian devoted many years of her life to caring for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She found her “specialty” doing private duty nursing. She worked in various surrounding towns. Her work reflected the very best of who she was, as she brought compassion, patience, and steady dedication to those in her care. She was respected not only for her skill and professionalism, but also for the gentle and reassuring presence she offered to others. Her calling as a nurse was a true reflection of her generous spirit and her desire to help those in need.
Outside of her work, Marian found joy in simple pleasures that brought her happiness and peace. She enjoyed playing Bingo, doing cross stitch, and shopping. These interests reflected her thoughtful and creative nature, as well as her appreciation for the little moments that made life special. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family, and those moments were among the most meaningful of her life. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, and she embraced each of those roles with love and pride.
Marian was predeceased by her parents, Richard Jerome and Marion (Costello) Donovan, her beloved husband, William J. Welch Sr., her caring son, William J. Welch Jr., and her brother, Richard Donovan. She is survived by her loving daughters, Peggy Gutjahr, Beth Bennett, and Jill Fisler, and her late husband, Ronald Fisler. She is also survived by her dear sisters, Karen Egan and her husband Hugh, Ellen Walsh and her husband Tim, and her sister-in-law, Betty Donovan. Her memory will also be cherished by her grandchildren, Kristina, Buddy, Ally, Felicia, Brittany, Christopher, Joey, Cheyenne, Jon, Katie, Nicky, and Maggie, as well as by her adored great-grandchildren, Ava, Leo, Charlie, Logan, Veronica, James, Raven, C.J., Joel, Ember, Milo, and Stella. Also, let us not forget her treasured cat “Baby”.
Those who knew Marian will remember her as a loving, kind, and creative woman whose presence brought comfort and joy to others. She had a way of making people feel valued and cared for, and her family was the center of her world. She will be greatly missed, always loved, and never forgotten.
Marian E. Welch leaves behind a legacy of compassion, family devotion, and enduring love. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her, and her influence will continue through the many lives she touched with her kindness and care.
