Maria Luisa Valles, 84, of Guayama, Puerto Rico passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024, at the Arnold Walter Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Holmdel. She was born on May 20, 1940, to the late Antonio Perez and Juana Rivera in Guayama, Puerto Rico. At 16, Maria came to downtown Manhattan. She married her late husband, Roberto Valles on August 8, 1957. After their marriage, Maria and Roberto started a family in Manhattan and moved back to Puerto Rico to continue raising her children eventually settling in Orlando, Florida.
Maria was a devoted mother not just to her four biological children, but also to her four adoptive children. Maria fostered over thirty-five children over her lifetime. She was very loving and giving, always looking to help others.
Maria is predeceased by her mother, Juana Rivera and by her husband, Roberto Valles. Surviving are Maria’s eight children, Mildred Duryea of Shirley, NY, Lillian Valles of Tennessee, Ramonita Otero, New York, Lourdes M. Perez of New Jersey, Lamont Valles and his wife Dianilda Esquilin of Puerto Rico, Jason Valles of New Jersey, Diana Valles of Pennsylvania, and Roberto Valles of Florida. Maria is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Arrangements were entrusted to Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey, 07730. In respect to Maria’s wishes, she will be privately cremated.
