Lucy A. Rossi, 84, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 2, 2020 after battling with lung cancer at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel, New Jersey. Lucy was born in Holmdel and graduated from Keyport High School in 1955. She retired from Shop Rite in Hazlet as an Appy Clerk after 25 years of service. She was an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 4699 in Sayreville, New Jersey, as a two-time All American President and Chaplin. She was also an A11 American VFW Auxiliary District President for Middlesex County, District Eight, as well as a VFW NJ State Color Bearer from 1997 to present. Lucy was a Girl Scout Leader for Troop 301 in Hazlet for 35 years. She was also a member of Altar/Rosary Society of St. Benedict Church in Holmdel, where she taught CCD Classes for many years. In addition, Lucy was a member of the Cullen Seniors in Hazlet and the Keyport Seniors where she was on the Ex. Board Advisory Committee and delivered meals on wheels to Keyport Seniors.
She was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Philomena DePalma, brothers, Frank and Michael DePalma, sisters, Mary DePalma, Carolina Juettner, and Virginia DePalma, and brother-in-law, Max Setowsky. Lucy is survived by her beloved and devoted husband of 61 years, Henderick Rossi, her loving children, James Rossi and his wife, Kathleen, of Tuckerton, New Jersey, David Rossi and his wife, Catherine, of Nottingham, England, and Doreen Stocker and her husband, Robert, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, her brothers, Patrick, Phillip, and Andrew DePalma, sisters, Rosemary Prendergast and her husband, James, Theresa Setowsky, and Diane Wesley and her husband, John. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Rossi, Vincent Rossi, Mitchell Rossi, DeAnna Stocker, Caleb Rossi, Luke Rossi, Abigail Stocker, and Amelia Stocker, and her treasured great granddaughter, Ryan Rossi.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, January 6, 2020 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Thursday morning, January 7, 2020 from 8:15 to 9:00 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday morning, January 7, 2020 at 9:30 AM at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 727 Highway 36, Union Beach, New Jersey 07735. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum, 360 Broadway, Keyport, New Jersey 07735.
