Lucy Antoinette Jankowski (Busichio) was born December 14, 1920 in Jersey City, NJ, to Italian immigrants, Francesco and Domenica Busichio. She was the youngest of 11 children. With the untimely passing of her mother, she spent her adolescent years at Mother Cabrini’s School for Girls. She graduated from Saint Anthony’s high school in 1937 & later the Franklin School of Nursing in Newark, N.J. In 1942, she shared an apartment in New York City with her beloved sister Mary. She worked as a licensed practical nurse at Christ Hospital in Jersey City. She met Charles Jankowski who served in the Army during World War II. They married in 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland, Lived in Jersey City, NJ, and eventually moved to Hazlet, NJ in 1959, where they lived until 2017.
Lucy was predeceased by her husband Charles and her six brother and four sisters. She is survived by her loving daughter Donna, and her grandchildren Shannon and Kevin.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, July 22 from 3:00 to 7:00PM and Friday, July 23, 2021 from 9:00 to 9:30 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel, NJ, 07733, at 10:00AM. Interment will follow Friday morning's mass at Shoreland Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hazlet, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lucy’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or SaveTheChildren.
