Lucietta Grossi, fondly known as “Lucy”, 91, of Keyport, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel, New Jersey. She was born Lucietta Volpe on May 10, 1930, in Orange, New Jersey, where she grew up. After marriage, Lucy and her husband, Amodio, moved to West Orange, where they remained to raise their family. After retirement, Lucy relocated to Tinton Falls and in 2013, settled in Keyport. For many years while living in West Orange, Lucy worked for the Board of Education and later, worked as a lunch aid for the Mahala Atchison School in Tinton Falls. Most of all, Lucy was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
She was predeceased by her parents, Louis and Rose (Ianiro) Volpe, her beloved and devoted husband, Amodio Grossi, and her siblings, Michael Volpe, Carl Volpe, Concetta Vitale, and Beatrice Garilli. Lucy is survived by her loving daughters, Gerri Matrale and her husband, Barry, of Howell, and Rose Montelli and her husband, Michael, of Union Beach, her dear sister, Ann DelBuono, and her cherished grandchildren, Nicole Montelli, Ashley Matrale, Paige Montelli, Kristofer Matrale.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, August 8, 2021, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Monday morning, August 9, 2021, from 8:45 to 9:30 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday morning, August 9, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 727 Highway 36, Union Beach, New Jersey 07735. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, 07936, at approximately 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of Lucy to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org, or The American Heart Association, www.heart.org, would be greatly appreciated.
