Louis P. Sodano, 99, of Milton, Delaware, formerly of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 28, 2025, at The Lodge at Historic Lewes in Lewes, Delaware. Louis was born on July 23, 1925, in Newark, New Jersey, and grew up in Union. He remained in Union, New Jersey to raise his family, until settling in Hazlet later in life. Before his retirement, Louis worked as a school bus driver for the Colts Neck school system for many years. He was also a proud United States Army Veteran, having served in the 106th Cavalry Division during World War II. Most of all, Louis was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
Louis was predeceased by his parents, Gabriele and Giuseppina (Palladino) Sodano, and his beloved wife, Jane Sodano. Louis is survived by his loving son, Wayne Sodano and his wife, Catherine, of Milton, Delaware, his daughter, Josephine O’Reilly and her husband, Joseph, of Florida, his stepdaughter, Janet Rittweger-Burns and her husband, Patrick, of Barnegat, New Jersey, and several cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In respect of Louis’ wishes, he will be privately cremated. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 12:00 to 3:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. At a later date, Louis’ remains will be laid to rest at Hollywood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Union, New Jersey.
