Louis J. Dispenza, 89, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. Louis was born on June 5, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York, where he grew up and met his beloved wife, Sarah. In 1958, Louis and Sarah settled in Hazlet, New Jersey to raise their family, where he remained to present day. Before his retirement, Louis worked for Local Union #560 as a Shop Steward for Meadowlands Arena for many years. He was also a proud United States Marine Corps Veteran, having served our country during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1954. Prior to his time in Korea, Louis was a member of the reserves. He was an active member of the Marine Corps Tinker Dorn Detachment from 1960 to 2020, as well as a member of the Marine Devil Dogs and Korean War Veteran's Association: Hong Song Chapter. He also served as State Commandant of the Marine Corps League for the State of New Jersey from 1999 to 2002. Most of all, Louis was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
He was predeceased by his parents, Rosario and Anna (Cardinale) Dispenza and his beloved and devoted wife, Sarah C. (Fraser) Dispenza. Louis is survived by his loving children, Robert Dispenza and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Hazlet, Joyce Feirstein and her husband, Scott, of Hazlet, Jeffrey Dispenza of Hazlet, and Craig Dispenza and his wife, Diane, of Manalapan, his dear sister, Nancy McGuirk, his cherished grandchildren, Robert Dispenza Jr. and his wife, Michelle, Jennifer Columbi and her husband, Vincent, Lauren Werthwein and her husband, Shawn, Brian Feirstein and his wife, Caroline, Kyle Feirstein, Lindsey Feirstein, Tracy Tennis, and Timothy Tennis, and his adored great grandchildren, Brian, Ava Marie, Gianna, Connor, Nicholas, Adrianna, Ariella, Noelle, and Addison.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, March 7, 2021 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM and Monday morning, March 8, 2021 from 8:45 to 9:30 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday morning, March 8, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 727 Highway 36, Union Beach, New Jersey 07735. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 100 Chapel Hill Road, Middletown/Red Bank, New Jersey 07701. As per the regulations imposed through the State of New Jersey, there will now be a maximum of 100 persons allowed in the funeral home at one time.
