Lorraine Houlihan Obituary

Lorraine J. Houlihan, 88, of St. Augustine, Florida, formerly of Hazlet, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on February 24, 2025.  She was born Lorraine J. Bender on December 21, 1936, in Jersey City, New Jersey, where she grew up and met her beloved husband, Thomas.  After marriage, Lorraine and Thomas settled in Hazlet, New Jersey, where they raised their three children and lived for 60 years.  They retired to South Carolina and after Thomas’ passing, Lorraine moved to St. Augustine, Florida, to be closer to her daughter, Jacqueline.
Lorraine was lovingly devoted to raising her three children throughout her life.  In her younger years, she adored being a stay-at-home mom and didn’t return to the workforce until after her children were married.  At that point, she started working for AT&T as an administrator in Holmdel, New Jersey; however, taking care of her family was always her utmost priority.  She was a fabulous cook and loved cooking for her family; she was well known for her delicious home-made meals. Lorraine loved listening to music and dancing.  In her spare time, Lorraine enjoyed playing bingo and taking family vacations.  Lorraine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.  She will be deeply missed and forever loved by all whose lives she touched.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Florence Bender, her beloved husband, Thomas J. Houlihan Jr., and her sister, Jayne Bender.  Lorraine is survived by her loving children, Thomas J. Houlihan III and his wife, Barbara, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, Jacqueline Snipes and her husband, Jim, of St. Augustine, Florida, and Lorraine Theresa “Terry” Moan and her husband, Kevin, of Largo, Florida, her cherished grandchildren, Kelly Molitoris, Tracey Mullins, James Snipes Jr., and Katelyn Julio, and eight adored great grandchildren.  Lorraine also leaves behind her dear sister, Lynn Huntington and her husband, Gerald, her sister-in-law, Claire Morse, her treasured nieces and nephew, Renee Huntington-Hahn, Deborah Huntington, and Walter Morse, and two great nieces and nephews.
