Lillian Papetti

Lillian Papetti, a loving woman whose life was marked by devotion to her family and a warm, generous spirit, passed away on August 13, 2026, in Holmdel, New Jersey, at the age of 94 with her loving family at her side.

Born on February 20, 1932, in Manhattan, New York, she was the daughter of the late Steven and Nancy (Sebella) Urso. She was raised and grew up in Elizabeth, where she spent her early years and formed the values of hard work, faith, and family that would guide her throughout her life. In 1964, she moved to Hillside, and in 2000 she settled in Holmdel, which she proudly called home for the remainder of her life.

Lillian devoted herself to her family as a homemaker, a role she embraced with love, patience, and unwavering commitment. She created a home filled with care, comfort, and welcome, and she was known for the kindness she extended to everyone around her. Her life was centered on the people she loved, and she gave of herself freely and faithfully in ways that will long be remembered by those who were blessed to know her.

She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony R. Papetti, and together they built a life rooted in family and shared purpose. She was also predeceased by her sister, Ann LaRocca and her husband Ed, and by her brother-in-law, Arthur N. Papetti and his wife Barbara. Lillian treasured her family deeply and held close the memory of those who went before her.

She is survived by her sons, Al Papetti, and Stephen Papetti and his wife Janice. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Julia Papetti-DeTommaso and her husband Vincent, Anthony Stephen Papetti, Ava V. Papetti, Lily Papetti, Toni Papetti, and Carla Papetti. She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren, Caterina, Luciano, Benito, Veronica, and Marco, who brought her great joy and pride.

Lillian was dearly loved by her cherished nieces and nephew, Tina and Frank Noll, A.J. Papetti, Mary Barbara Papetti and her husband Ryan Granito, and Debbie and Gary Seals. She was a treasured great-aunt to many great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom will remember her loving nature and the special place she held in their lives. She also held a deep affection for her dear cousins in the Mauti Family, the Puleo Family and the Sorrentino Family. She was blessed with many dear friends whom she loved as family.

Those who knew Lillian will remember her as a loving woman whose presence brought comfort and warmth. Her faith, her devotion to family, and her gentle way of caring for others were the hallmarks of her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Her family finds comfort in knowing that her long and meaningful life was filled with devotion, resilience, and love. Lillian Papetti will be remembered with deep affection and gratitude, and her memory will be cherished always.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 17th at Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 19 Cherry Tree Farm Road, Middletown, New Jersey 07748.
