Leonardo Corsi, fondly known as “Lenny”, 90, of Middletown, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on May 15, 2025. Lenny was born on January 25, 1935, in Jersey City, New Jersey, where he would meet the love of his life, Ruth Yodonise, as teenagers. They married in 1956, settled in Ridgefield Park, and had three children, JoAnn, Leonard and Steven. They moved to Hasbrouck Heights in 1969 where they raised their family, living just footsteps away from countless aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who were like family. Sunday dinners and family parties were constant. Always filled with belly laughs, music, singing, dancing, food and love.
Lenny worked as a Forklift Operator for Lever Brothers and was a proud volunteer fireman for over 25 years. Once their children were grown, Lenny and Ruthie moved to Middletown where they would be affectionately known as Nanny and Pop Pop by family, friends and neighbors for the rest of their days. After the loss of his wife in 2011, Pop Pop focused all his energy on his family and the church. He was a parishioner at St Catherine’s of Laboure Church in North Middletown, and a popular crossing guard on the corner of Kenwood and New Monmouth Rd for many years. You could always find him roaming through Pathmark, ShopRite and Foodtown. He played his daily “numbiz” at QuikChek and loved a cold beer and a burger at the Portside. He played Santa for many Christmas seasons at his oldest Granddaughter’s dance studio (Emotion In Motion) where he was adored by all the students and their families. He loved making people smile whether it be by serenading a crowd with “Eh Cumpari”, delivering his famous Pop Pop Cookies to his doctors, dentist, mailman, neighbors and friends, or fulfilling his many requests to make his eggplant for any party or neighborhood gathering he could. He will be greatly missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
Lenny was predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Ruth Ann Corsi and his 8 dear siblings.
Pop Pop is survived by his three loving children, JoAnn Eccles and husband Robert of Middletown, Lenny Corsi and his wife Karen of Wayne, and Steven Corsi and his wife Kristen of Seaford, Delaware. He is also survived by his pride and joy, his cherished grandchildren, Tara Frye and her husband Richard, Jenelle Ronchetti and her husband Anthony, Keith Corsi and his wife Tara, Brittany Kuhlmann and her husband Matthew, Melissa Perez and her husband Jose, Lauren Eccles, Nicholas Corsi, Jessica Corsi, Isabella Corsi, and Jace Corsi, and his treasured great grandchildren, Adelina, Hunter, Gavin, Leo, Callie, Tino, Liam, Antonia, Gianna, Ariyah, Rocco, Lucca, and Dakota.
