Lambrini "Nina" Velitschkow, 90, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully at her home on September 24, 2025, in Hazlet, New Jersey. Born on September 20, 1935, in the historic city of Istanbul, Turkey, Nina's journey led her to a life rich in experiences, love, and the joy of family and friends.
Nina's story began as the cherished daughter of her devoted parents in Istanbul, where her early years were filled with the vibrant culture and traditions of her homeland. The strength and resilience that would come to define her were evident from a young age. In 1960, Nina embarked on a bold new chapter, moving to the United States, where she initially settled in Biloxi, Mississippi. Her adventurous spirit and determination saw her move to North Plainfield, New Jersey, before finally making her home in the Bayshore Area, and settling in Hazlet, New Jersey where she would become a beloved member of the community.
In Hazlet, Nina found not just a place to live, but a place to thrive. Together with her late husband, Steve Velitschkow, she owned and operated Crystal Palace Cleaners in Holmdel, New Jersey. As a skilled seamstress and savvy businesswoman, Nina poured her heart into her work, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew her. Her warm smile and gentle manner transformed the cleaners into more than just a business—it became a place where customers became friends.
Nina was predeceased by her husband Steve. Though her heart ached with the loss of her beloved daughter, Crystal Velitschkow, and her dear brother, Constantine "Dino" Etipoulos, Nina's spirit remained unbroken. She found comfort and joy in her surviving family members: her daughter Lia Velitschkow and her fiancé Billy, her grandson Logan Prussack, her sister in law, Keti Etipoulos, her niece Vicky Etipoulos, and her nephew Xeno Etipoulos. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, 20 Hillcrest Road, Holmdel, New Jersey 07733, followed by the Funeral Liturgy at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, 456 NJ 35 Middletown/ Red Bank, New Jersey 07748.
