Kathleen M. Cala, fondly known as “Kathy”, 67, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, New Jersey. She was born Kathleen M. Arnold on October 7, 1956, in Jersey City, New Jersey, where she grew up and lived for most of her life. On February 17, 1979, Kathleen and her beloved husband, Benjamin, were married and began their life and family together in Jersey City. In 1997, they settled in Hazlet, New Jersey. Before her recent retirement in 2021, Kathy was a Registered Nurse with JFK Medical Center in Edison, New Jersey for many years. Above all else, Kathy was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to many. She will be greatly missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Catherine (Daniels) Arnold. Kathy is survived by her beloved and devoted husband of 45 years, Benjamin Cala, her loving children, Nicholas Cala of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Christine Valencia and her husband, Diego, of Hazlet, her dear siblings, Mary Jean Johnson and her husband, Jerry, and Joseph Arnold and his wife, Martha, and her cherished grandchildren, Jayden, Gianna, and Juliana Valencia.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Thursday morning, February 8, 2024, from 8:30 to 9:15 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at 10:00 AM at The Catholic Church of St. Ann, 311 Carr Avenue, Keansburg, New Jersey 07735. In respect of Kathy’s wishes, she will be privately cremated. In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
