Karen Connelly-Black, 70, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, March 30, 2024. She was born Karen Connelly on October 19, 1953, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and grew up in Aberdeen. In 2013, Karen settled in Hazlet, New Jersey, with her loving daughter, Heather. Before her retirement, Karen worked as a Pharmacy Technician for many years.
Karen was very proud of her Irish heritage. In her spare time, she loved to travel, spend time at the beach, and enjoyed baking with her grandchildren. Along with her love of traveling, Karen enjoyed creating scrapbooks of the various places she visited over the years. She also journaled nearly every day since the 1980’s, keeping detailed written mementos of her life to pass along to her beloved family. Most of all, Karen was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
She was predeceased by her parents, James and Lucille (Fitzsimmons) Connelly, and her beloved twin sister, Kathleen Connelly. Karen is survived by her loving children, Edward “EJ” Black Jr. and his wife, Christine, of Hazlet, and Heather Black and her fiancé, Daniel “Danny”, of Hazlet, her dear brother, James “JC” Connelly and his wife, Ruthann, and her cherished grandchildren, Julia Black, Braden Black, Lucille Cornish, and Sean Black.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A prayer service will be offered at the funeral home during the visitation hours. In respect of Karen’s wishes, she will be privately cremated.
