Josephine Hoskey Obituary

Josephine F. Hoskey, 94, known lovingly to family and friends as Jean, passed away on August 31, 2026, at Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel, New Jersey.

Born on May 16, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York, Jean grew up in the borough she would always call home. It was there that she met her beloved husband, Donald Hoskey, and began building the life and family she cherished so deeply. After their marriage, Jean and Donald remained in Brooklyn, where they raised their family together. Brooklyn was not only the place of her childhood and early adulthood, but also the setting for a lifetime of treasured memories, enduring friendships, and the strong family bonds that defined her life.

Jean was a loving and kind woman whose presence brought comfort and joy to those around her. Her home was a place of welcome, where she expressed her love through the many meals she prepared and the time she spent with those closest to her. Jean especially loved to cook for her family and friends, and she also enjoyed eating a good meal herself. Her kitchen and dining table were often filled with laughter, conversation, and the simple pleasures that made family gatherings so meaningful.

Before her retirement, Jean worked as an administrator for NY State Liquidators in Manhattan, New York. Her career reflected the same steady and thoughtful nature that she brought to every part of her life.

Jean was also an enthusiastic sports fan who enjoyed cheering for the New York Mets and the Brooklyn Cyclones. Baseball was one of her favorite pastimes, and she especially loved the experience of attending games, where she could enjoy a hot dog and a beer while taking in the excitement of the ballpark. These outings were among the many simple pleasures that brought her happiness and reflected her appreciation for life’s everyday joys.

In 2018, Jean made her home in Hazlet, where she settled with her loving daughter-in-law and granddaughters. This new chapter allowed her to remain close to the family she adored, and she continued to be a source of love, wisdom, and comfort to them. Her family was the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent in their company.

Jean was predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald Hoskey; her loving son, Peter Hoskey; and her dear siblings, Peter Imperato and Bridget Keogh. She is survived by her adoring daughter-in-law, Jill Hoskey; her dear sister, Amy Ielpi, and her husband, Tony; and her cherished granddaughters, Tara Hoskey and Valerie Hoskey. Her family will forever hold the memory of her loving nature, her kindness, and the many ways she enriched their lives in their hearts.  She leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and strength that will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
