Joseph B. Walsh

Joseph (Joe) B. Walsh, 70, of Hazlet, NJ, passed away on July 24, 2020, at his home in Hazlet. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he eventually started his family in Queens, NY, before finally settling in Hazlet in 1988. He was a dedicated employee as an Auditor for the State of Florida in West Patterson, NJ, for over 20 years, and earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and peers for his stellar work ethic and people-first approach.

Joe loved fishing, horseracing, reading, baseball, football, music, especially The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, and watching reruns of Seinfeld and Game Show Network. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family, especially travelling and trips to Atlantic City with his loving wife, Peggy. Later in life, his beloved granddaughter Brianna would become the center of his world. While his family often joked he was “a man of few words,” he was no stranger to composing supportive and loving words in handwritten notes or text messages, and never shied away from making jokes and having a good laugh.

Joe is predeceased by his parents, James and Margaret (Turnan) Walsh, his brother James (Jimmy), his sister, Carol, and her husband, Cosmo. He is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy Walsh, his loving children, daughter Tina Renz, cherished granddaughter Brianna, and son Joe Walsh and his wife, Liz. He also leaves behind his dear siblings Margaret, Patricia and Thomas, as well as sisters-in-law Kathy and Maureen, and brothers-in-law Michael, John, Timothy, Richard, and Gary. He also leaves behind nieces, Donna and Sarah, and nephews Walter (Butchie), Patrick, Tony, Cosmo, James, Danny, Christian, Justin, along with his wife Taryn and their daughters, Layla and Addison, and Daniel, along with many grandnieces and grandnephews.
