Joseph "Joe" Anthony Valentino, born on April 23, 1938, in Havenhill, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family, on February 21, 2026, in Hazlet, New Jersey. Joe's life was marked by his unwavering kindness, love, and warm spirit that touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Elvira (Leland) Valentino, and his siblings Vera, Tony, Mario, Tony, and Charlie. He is survived by the love of his life, Mary Ann “Giovanelli” Valentino whom he married on September 28, 1960. His legacy continues through his loving children, Joseph Valentino, Anthony Valentino and his wife, the late Elena Valentino, Maryanne Crawford and her husband Dennis, Michael Valentino and Theresa Cuccurullo. Joe's life was further enriched by his cherished grandchildren, Sylvia, Joseph, Elizabeth, Michael, Rosemarie, Joseph, Angela, Heather, Christina, John, Nikki, Nicholas, Steven, Mia, and Hannah, as well as numerous great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever hold him in their hearts. He was a devoted, son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Joe retired as a Longshoreman after many years of service at the Military Ocean Terminal in Bayonne, New Jersey. His work ethic was unparalleled, and his colleagues respected him for his commitment and integrity. Joe also served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, a period of his life that instilled in him a deep sense of patriotism and duty.
His interests were a reflection of the joy he found in life's simple pleasures. Joe had a passion for cooking, often delighting family and friends with his delicious creations. He treasured spending time with his family above all else, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Joe also enjoyed relaxing and watching his favorite TV shows, including "Everybody Loves Raymond," "MASH," and "Mission Impossible." His love for ice cream was only matched by his affection for dogs, both of which brought him immense happiness.
Joe will be remembered as a kind, loving, and creative soul—a man who brought happiness and warmth to every room. He will be greatly missed, always loved and never forgotten.
As we bid farewell to Joseph "Joe" Anthony Valentino, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and the joy of everyday moments. His spirit will live on in the stories shared, the meals enjoyed, and the love he gave so freely. Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.
