Joseph R. Prinzo, 87, of Hazlet, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family on Saturday, March 18, 2023. Joseph was born on March 18, 1936, in Lyndhurst, New Jersey. Joseph was proud to serve his country honorably in the United States Army. He met the love of his life, April Pede and they wed on August 12, 1961. Together they moved to Hazlet in 1962 and raised their family. They also enjoyed making a lifetime of memories at their home in Marshalls Creek, Pennsylvania.
He received his Bachelor’s degree and several Master’s degrees from Seton Hall, South Orange, New Jersey and Jersey City State College, Jersey City, New Jersey. Joseph was an accomplished and dedicated teacher working for Hazlet Board of Education, Hazlet, New Jersey for thirty years. He retired July 1, 1994.
A few of Joe's passions were reading, skiing, and spending time with family. He was an avid sports fan, especially when it came to the Yankees and Rangers. He was a member of the Ski Club of America and the Knights of Columbus. He was a dedicated, son, husband, father and grandfather and brother. Joe will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
Joe was predeceased by his beloved parents, Joseph and Josephine (Adamo) Prinzo as well as a brother, Carmine Prinzo. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, April (Pede) Prinzo, his loving children, Joseph Prinzo and his wife Kim of Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, Joanne Harnett and her husband Stephen of Hazlet, New Jersey and Thomas Prinzo and his wife Tammy of Long Pond, Pennsylvania, his cherished grandchildren April Rose Prinzo, Gianna Prinzo, Stephen Harnett, Julie Harnett, Tomas Prinzo and Josephine Prinzo and a caring brother, Peter Prinzo of Lyndhurst.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 8:30 to 9:15 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey . A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Saint Ann Roman Catholic Church, 311 Carr Ave, Keansburg, New Jersey. 07734.
