Joseph J. Passaretti Sr., 75, Matawan, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. Joseph was the beloved Husband of Delores “De” Passaretti, who was lovingly and devotedly at his side in his final days. Joseph was born in New York, NY, the son of the late Frank Passaretti and the late Mary (Diamonda) Cosentino Passaretti.
He proudly served the people of Union City, NJ as a police officer and Detective, and proudly represented and defended his brother officers at President of the P.B.A. for many years. His retirement from the force only marked the beginning of a new career, providing life insurance and disability coverage to thousands, many of whom could not have otherwise have secured such protections. He was honored with numerous awards for excellence and outstanding performance. Outside of his career, Joseph was also a communicant of Most Holy Redeemer Church in Matawan for many years, where he also served as a former Eucharistic Minister.
Joe loved his New York Yankees, who are now guaranteed to go all the way this year. He loved the Giants, all things gangster and cop drama, playing cards, and a great (or horribly bad) creature feature. But more than anything else, he loved his family and the time he spent with them. His story telling was legendary, and if you were in his inner circle, you no doubt have heard many versions of the same story.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Mary (Diamonda) Passaretti, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Manny and Mel Souza, and his adoring grandmother “GG”. Joe is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 35 years, Delores “De” Passaretti, his loving children, Christopher Passaretti and his wife, Kimberly Passaretti, Joseph Passaretti, Jr., and his wife, Jennifer Passaretti, Jo Anne Boles and her husband ,Anthony Boles, Michael Passaretti Sr. and his partner/companion, Kaezy Guedez, and Nicholas Passaretti, his dear siblings, Mary Ann (Passaretti) Cheplic, Elizabeth (Passaretti) Speicher and her husband, Eugene Speicher, Frank Passaretti and his wife, Diana Passaretti, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, James Souza and his wife, Gloria, and Donna Piccinich and her husband, Tom, and his cherished grandchildren, Anthony, Deanna, Wesley, Allison, Aaron, and Michael Jr., along with a host of dear nieces, nephews and their children.
