Joseph J. Lombardi, 91, of Port Monmouth, New Jersey passed away peacefully, with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, April 16th, 2025, at Arnold Walter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hazlet, New Jersey. He was born on April 13, 1934, in Jersey City, New Jersey. Joseph met and later married the love of his life, Margaret M. Witthohn on June 12, 1966. Together they raised their family in Jersey City, before settling in Port Monmouth, New Jersey in 1995. After working for General Motors in Jersey City, as a welder for a few years, he went onto open Joey’s Welding Service from which he retired.
He was fondly known for being a “Jack of all trades”. He enjoyed woodcarving, drawing and music as well as having a talent for playing the harmonica. He loved spending time with his family. Joseph was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed, always loved and never forgotten.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Rose (O’Keefe) Lombardi, his beloved wife of 53 years, Margaret (Witthohn) Lombardi, his sister Dee Dee Fecko and his grandson, Thomas Birkner. Joseph is survived by his loving children, Joseph Lombardi and his wife Sara of Port Monmouth, New Jersey, Rose O’Callahan and her husband Patrick of Hazlet, New Jersey and Carol Lombardi, also of Hazlet, New Jersey, his caring grandson, Patrick O’Callahan and a sister-in-law, Jane Vallero.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 9:30AM to 10:15AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 10:00AM on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Burial will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery, 360 Broadway, Keyport, New Jersey 07735.
