Joseph E. Gutowsky, Jr.

Joseph E. Gutowsky, Jr., 72, of Holmdel, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, August 11, 2019.  Joseph was born on February 24, 1947 in Perth Amboy. He grew up in Union Beach, New Jersey, later lived in Middletown, New Jersey before settling in Holmdel, New Jersey. Joseph started working in his early career for Anderson Equipment as a Diesel Mechanic.  He then worked as a Diesel Mechanic for R. Helfrich & Son, West Keansburg for most of his life. He loved antique cars, camping, fishing, and crabbing.  He was a member of the Middletown Elks, and was an Honorary First Aid Member for Holmdel First Aid Squad.

Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Vera P. (Helfrich) and Joseph E. Gutowsky, Sr. He is survived by his loving long-time girlfriend, June Duhigg, his dear daughter, Joanne Gutowsky, his caring siblings, Robert Gutowsky and his girlfriend, Teresa Wargo of Ponoma, New York, and Ellen Hubbard and her husband, James, of Ocala, Florida, his cherished grandchildren, Leah and Rory, his uncles, Jacob Helfrich and his wife, Virginia, and Edward Helfrich, his nieces and nephews, Robert Gutowsky, Lisa Clark and Sue Wright. Joseph is also survived by 4 great nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, “Dolly.” Joseph will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 2 PM to 4 PM and 7 PM to 9 PM and Wednesday, August 14, 2019 from 2 PM to 4 PM and 7 PM to 9 PM and Thursday morning, August 15, 2019 from 9:45 AM to 10:30 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday morning, August 15, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church/ Our Lady of Fatima RC Church, 376 Maple Pl, Keyport, NJ 07735.  Burial to follow at Shoreland Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Highway 35, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.
