Joseph D'Amico Obituary

Joseph N. D’Amico, 80, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2021 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, New Jersey from cardiac complications.  Joe was born on April 19, 1940 in Passaic and grew up in Lodi, New Jersey.  After marrying his wife, Eileen, in 1971 they moved to Hazlet where they raised their family.

Joe was a graduate of Seton Hall University, completed graduate courses in physics at Stevens Institute of Technology, and earned a master’s degree in computer science from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Joe was employed as a telecommunications researcher and engineer at General Cable Corporation from 1967 to 1985.  In 1985 he joined Telcordia Technologies (Bellcore) where he worked for over 25 years until his retirement.

Joe was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Frances (Milazzo) D’Amico.  He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Eileen (Blake) D’Amico, his loving children Michael D’Amico and his wife, Tara of Yukon, Oklahoma, Jeannine McDonald of Hazlet, New Jersey, Suzanne Brodock and her husband, Keith of Montclair, New Jersey, Lauren D’Amico of Hazlet, New Jersey, his dear sister, Sister Grace D’Amico S.S.N.D., and his cherished grandchildren, Alicia McDonald, Matthew McDonald, Ashley McDonald, Samantha Brodock, Patrick Brodock, and Joshua D’Amico.  He was a loving pet grandparent to his grandpups, Murphy and Hunter.  He is also survived by many cousins, in-laws, and nieces and nephews.  He will be dearly missed but always remembered.

Joe was a communicant of St Benedict Catholic Church in Holmdel, New Jersey since 1974.  He was a former vice president of St. Benedict parish council, a former member of the St. Benedict school board, and a lector for several years. He was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #11349.

Joe was an incredibly well-rounded man who enjoyed his vegetable garden, reading, home improvement projects, and family vacations to the beach and Disney World.  Most of all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family.

We will miss his brilliant mind and his patient and kind spirit.
