John Mocci, Jr., 93, of Morganville, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, May 30, 2024. John was born on March 28, 1931, in Raritan, New Jersey, and grew up on his family’s farm in Hazlet. On July 2, 1950, John and his wife, Julia, were married and began their life and family together in Matawan, New Jersey. They remained in Matawan to raise their family and approximately 40 years ago, settled in Morganville.
Before his retirement, John worked for the New Jersey State Highway Authority for many years. In 1959, he started volunteering for Aberdeen Fire District #1. He was the past fire commissioner, previous chief engineer, and was currently a proud lifetime member, having served with the fire department for over 65 years. John’s true passion throughout his life was farming. He also adored his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren and cherished every moment they spent together. John will be greatly missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
He was predeceased by his parents, Carmelia (Maryouia) and John Mocci, Sr., his beloved and devoted wife, Julia (Mancini) Mocci, his son-in-law, Chuck Zweidinger, and four sisters and one brother. John is survived by his loving children, Dianne Ziegler of Morganville, Joanne Gilmore of Morganville, Debbie Mocci of Morganville, and John Mocci III and his wife, Nancie, of Keyport, his cherished grandchildren, Billy Gilmore and his wife, Jessie, Nicole Pettyjohn and her husband, Mike, Nicholas Gigantino and his wife, Kristen, and Anthony Gigantino and his wife, Kelly, and his adored great grandchildren, Adrian and Sienna.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, May 31st, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Saturday morning, June 1st, 2024, from 8:30 to 9:15 AM, at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday morning, June 1st, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church – Our Lady of Fatima Parish, 376 Maple Place, Keyport, New Jersey 07735.
