John Maddock

John Maddock,71, who was known for his loving, generous, and selfless nature, passed away on August 3, 2026, at home in Keyport, New Jersey, surrounded by the quiet comfort of the place he had long called home.

Born on July 15, 1955, in Newark, New Jersey, he grew up in Irvington, New Jersey, where in he met the love of his life, Denise, in after high school. Their bond grew into a lifelong partnership, and they were married on November 19, 1993. In 1995, John and Denise moved from Edison to Keyport, New Jersey, where they remained and built a life centered on family, friendship, and devotion to one another.

John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Denise (Freda) Maddock, on May 18, 2015, as well as by his parents. He is survived by his loving children, Lynda Minard and her husband Michael of Union Beach, New Jersey, and Danielle Isaacson and her husband Aaron of Middletown, New Jersey. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Kayla Minard, Brooke Minard, and Julianna Isaacson, who brought him great pride and joy. In addition, he is survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will remember him with deep affection.

John dedicated 43 years of his life to Essex County Branch Brook Park in Newark, New Jersey, where he retired after a long and respected career as a committed parks supervisor. His work reflected his steady character, strong sense of responsibility, and genuine care for the spaces and people around him. He took pride in doing his job well and was admired for the dedication he brought to his work each day.

He was also a devoted life member and former captain of the Harris Gardens Fire Company in Union Beach, New Jersey. His involvement with the fire company was a meaningful part of his life, and it reflected his loyalty, leadership, and willingness to serve others. Those who knew him through this association will remember his dependable presence and the respect he earned through years of commitment.

Outside of work and service, John found enjoyment in simple pleasures and treasured pastimes. He enjoyed his visits to Atlantic City, where he especially liked playing craps, and he also enjoyed watching horse racing at Meadowlands. John, a devoted Eagles fan, enjoyed cheering them on throughout the season.  He was a loyal dog lover, and his affection for animals was matched only by the love he held for his family. Above all else, John cherished time spent with those closest to him, and those moments remained the center of his happiest memories.

John will be remembered as a man of warmth, kindness, and quiet strength. His life was marked by devotion to his family, loyalty to his friends, and steadfast service to his community. He touched the lives of many through his generosity and his gentle spirit, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
