John Joseph (Joey) Hegarty, 66, of Keansburg, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. John was born on May 18, 1958, in Killybegs, County Donegal, Ireland, where he grew up. In 1982, he immigrated to the United States, settling in Brooklyn, New York, where he met his beloved wife, Eileen. On May 18, 1993, John and Eileen got married and began their life together. In 2005, they settled in Keansburg, New Jersey, where they remained to raise their family. For many years, John worked security for Allied Security Company in New York, New York. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to many. John will be greatly missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Mary (Murrin) Hegarty and his brother-in-law, Stuart Costello. John is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 31 years, Eileen (Johannessen) Hegarty, his loving children, Dylan Hegarty, Hayley Hegarty, and Owen Hegarty, and his dear siblings, Catherine Costello, Nuala Mann and her husband, Steven, and Tony Hegarty, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday morning, January 11, 2025 from 8:15 to 9:00 AM, at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday morning, January 11, 2025 at 9:30 AM at The Church of St. Catherine of Labouré, 110 Bray Avenue, N. Middletown, New Jersey 07748.
