Joanne McGrath, 63, of Monmouth Beach, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family and the love of her life Frank, on January 26, 2024. Joanne was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 15, 1960. Her family settled in Hazlet, New Jersey in 1967 where Joanne grew up and attended Raritan High School. In 1984 she moved to Manhattan, New York to expand her horizons. Joanne continued her education at NYU earning her bachelors degree. She continued on with her education at Baruch College, graduating with her Masters Degree with honors. She was employed by New York University Medical School for 37 years working her way up to becoming the Assistant Dean of Admissions; She made lifelong friends and touched so many future doctor’s lives. She approached every obstacle in her life with dignity and optimism, never complaining. Joanne loved traveling the world, her pup Molly, spending time at the beach, tending to her rose garden and anything Irish, but most of all spending time with her nephews, Ian, Billy and Brian, whom she adored. Joanne loved her family and friends unconditionally, and was the epitome of grace, courage and love which are the symbols of the Irish Claddagh, Loyalty, Friendship and Love.
She was predeceased by her beloved father John McGrath and her cherished aunt Eileen Shannon. Joanne is survived by, Frank Gutjahr, her beloved mother Irene (Maloney) McGrath, her loving siblings Steve McGrath and his wife Debbie of Hazlet, New Jersey, Eileen Crawford and her husband Bill of Hazlet, New Jersey, her cherished nephews Ian, Billy, and Brian Crawford, along with her cherished aunt Janet (Maloney) Briggs, and a host of cousins, extended family and friends. She will be deeply missed, forever loved and remembered.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday January 31, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Thursday February 1, 2024 from 8:45 to 9:30 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday February 1, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 727 Highway 36, Union Beach New Jersey 07735. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery Mausoleum, 360 Broadway, Keyport, New Jersey 07735.
