It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joann Flynn, who left us peacefully on June 25, 2025, at the age of 74. Born Josephine Ann Campasano on March 12, 1951, in Brooklyn, New York, Joann's life was a testament to love, kindness, and genuine connection.
In 1959, Joann moved with her family to Hazlet, New Jersey, where she met and married the love of her life, Jim Flynn. Their beautiful union spanned 53 years, building a family filled with warmth and devotion.
Joann was a truly remarkable woman, known for her loving and kind spirit. She possessed a unique gift for befriending strangers, effortlessly making everyone around her feel at ease and comfortable. Her gentle nature and compassionate heart touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was a devoted wife to Jim and a loving mother to her sons Ryan (partner Roseann), and Matthew (wife Nicole). She was a cherished grandmother to her granddaughters Madison, Marley, Dylan, Cassidy, and Anabelle. She loved her mother Ann, her siblings Nick (wife Stephanie), Phyllis (husband Carl), Louis (wife Leslie), Vincent, and MaryJude (husband Jeff), her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Joann also touched many lives as a youth minister at St. Gabriel's parish (Marlboro, NJ) and St. Luke's parish (Toms River, NJ).
Joann's greatest joy was found in the vibrant tapestry of her family and friends. Her legacy of love and compassion will live on through them and through the many lives she touched.
While Joann's physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit of kindness, love, and compassion will forever inspire us. In her memory, the family kindly requests that you honor Joann by performing acts of kindness in her memory, continuing the ripple effect of her beautiful life.
