Joan A. Gurchak, 83, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Complete Care in Holmdel. She was born Joan A. Simun on August 31, 1942, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, and grew up in Woodbridge. After marriage, Joan and her beloved husband, Robert, settled in Hazlet, where they remained to raise their family. Joan worked as a nurse for 40+ years (RN, BSN) and later taught at Lincoln Technical Institute in Edison, before retiring in 2013. Most of all, Joan was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend to many. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Anna (Seman) Simun, her beloved husband of 56 years, Robert S. Gurchak (September 24, 2020), and her dear sister, Patricia Brown and her husband, Joseph. Joan is survived by her loving children, Robert S. Gurchak and his wife, Patricia, of San Antonio, Texas, and Joanne Rosse and her husband, David, of Woodbridge, her dear brother, J. Richard Simun and his wife, Linda, of Monroe, and her cherished grandchildren, Jon Gurchak and his wife, Sarah, Ben Gurchak, and Jessica Gurchak, along with many treasured nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She will also be dearly missed by her beloved cat, Meow, and grand-doggies and grand-kitties.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM and Monday morning, September 29, 2025, from 9:30 to 10:15 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A prayer service will be offered at the funeral home on Sunday evening at approximately 4:00 PM. A committal service and interment will take place following Monday morning’s visitation at 11:30 AM at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, New Jersey, where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Robert.
