Joan F Gardner

Joan F. Gardner, 84, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel.  She was born Joan Waltz on April 10, 1937, to Frank and Frances Waltz, in Jersey City, where she was raised.  After moving to Hazlet, Joan was very active in Middle Road School during the 1960’s and 1970’s.  She was the President of the PTO, and organized fundraisers, book fairs, teachers’ luncheons, etc.  Joan was an area representative for the Jaycee-ettes, served as a den mother for the Cub Scouts, Brownies, and Girl Scouts.  After raising her family, she worked retail and earned her Associates Degree in finance.  She held numerous positions in finance until her retirement.  She then served as a board worker for local elections and was active in the Democratic Party.  Joan loved going to the racetrack, reading, sunbathing at the beach, and going to concerts and parties.  She had lots of friends and was as great dancer.  Most of all, Joan was a loving mother and grandmother.  She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Frances (Adamski) Waltz, and her dear sister, Matilda Lang.  Joan is survived by her loving children, Daniel Gardner of Hazlet, David Gardner and his wife, Bonnie, of Oxford, Lorraine Gardner of Oregon, and Timothy Gardner of Hazlet, her cherished granddaughters, Emma, Lauren, Amanda, and Megan, and her cousins the Leonard's.
