Janet Louise Vargo, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, at the age of 98 in Holmdel, New Jersey. Born on May 10, 1927, in Asbury Park, NJ, to the late Emil and Edith (Kerr) Brooks, Janet's life was a vivid tapestry of dedication, style, and joy.
Janet's early years in Asbury Park and Neptune City were filled with the warmth of a close-knit community and the strong values imparted by her parents. She carried these values throughout her life, raising her family with the same love and care in Wall Township. Janet's journey took her to Port Charlotte, Florida, in the late 1980s, where she embraced the sun-kissed lifestyle for nearly three decades before returning to her roots in New Jersey, settling in Keyport.
In her professional life, Janet was an Office Assistant at Dr. Formicella's practice in Asbury Park. Her colleagues and patients alike cherished her for her kindness and unwavering support.
Janet's life was marked by her involvement in various associations that reflected her commitment to community and her zest for life. She was an active member of the America Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #346 in Neptune and the Belmar Women's Club. Through these organizations, Janet formed lasting friendships and made significant contributions to the community she held dear.
Travel and culinary delights were among Janet's favorite pursuits. Her love for exploring new places was only matched by her appreciation for great food, which she enjoyed immensely. Janet's sense of style was legendary; she was always impeccably dressed, exuding grace and sophistication. Her fashion sense was a true reflection of her personality—vibrant, put-together, and always with a touch of flair.
Janet was predeceased by her parents, her first husband Warren Freirich, her second husband John Vargo, her son Kevin Freirich, and her daughter Susan Lemming. Her legacy of love continues through her surviving family members. She leaves behind her son Jeffrey J. Freirich and his wife Bethellen, her son Warren Scott Freirich, and her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
As we bid farewell to Janet Louise Vargo, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a woman deeply loved. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who were touched by her kindness, her elegance, and her unwavering love. Rest in peace, dear Janet, your memory will live on as a blessing to us all.
