Janet (Smith) French

Janet French, 89, of  Monroe Township, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on September 8, 2022. She was born Janet Smith on July 24,1933 in Manhattan, New York.  Janet was raised in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Staten Island, New York where she and her late husband Thomas raised their family.  In 1998 she settled in Monroe Township, New Jersey.

Janet was pre-deceased by her beloved parents John and Mary Jane (Murphy) Smith, and her stepmom Tessie Smith, her devoted husband Thomas F. French (October 10, 1997), her loving children Michael G. French and Ellen Semler, along with 2 of her grandchildren, John Meyers and Michael French.  She is survived by her loving children Thomas French and his wife Lauren of Jackson, New Jersey, Kevin F. French and his wife Deborah of Hazlet, New Jersey, Kathleen McNamara and her husband Kevin of Keansburg, New Jersey, Patricia A. Henry of Edison, New Jersey, Maureen Frank and her husband John of Monroe Township, New Jersey, her daughter in law Karen French, and son in law Ronald Semler, her dear sister Margaret Chatterton and her husband Charles, along with her 19 cherished grandchildren and 10 adored great grandchildren. and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, September 12, 2022 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM  and on Tuesday from  9:30  to 10:15 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 3269 State Highway/Route 35, Hazlet, New Jersey, 07730.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 5371 Amboy Road, Staten Island, New York 10312.
