Jan C. Jensen, 85, of Holmdel, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 18th, 2025, at Bayshore Medical Center, Holmdel, New Jersey. Jan and Virginia were also ”snowbirds” of Spring Hill, Florida. Jan was born on March 25, 1939, in Chase County, Michigan. He lived in various parts of the country and in the mid 1950’s along with his family, Jan moved to Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey. He met the love of his life Virginia Musgrove and they later married on September 24, 1960. They moved to Holmdel in 1966, where they remained to raise their family.
Jan enjoyed his work at Lily Tulip, Holmdel, New Jersey where he worked as a computer programmer until they closed. After Lily Tulip he went to work at Sears in Middletown, New Jersey where he worked doing HVAC. Jan had a love of snow skiing, water skiing and taking their RV on trips especially to Vermont. After retirement, he purchased a motorcycle and thoroughly enjoyed the time that he spent “riding”. He was proud to of been a founding member of the Holmdel First Aid, where he remained a member for over 30 years. Later he became a member of the Holmdel First Aid Auxiliary. Due to Jan’s great personality and his extreme kindness, he will be remembered fondly as being the “mayor” wherever he went. He was called “Shorty” but was known more as a “Giant”. Above all else he was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed, always loved and never forgotten.
He is predeceased by his beloved parents, Martin and Martha (Bosch) Jensen and his beautiful granddaughter, Kelsey Jensen Gilmore. He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Virginia (Musgrove) Jensen, his loving son, David J and his wife Darla of Spring Hills, Florida, his caring siblings, Paul Jensen and his wife Cindy of West Palm, Florida, Martha Miller of Richmond, Virginia, Elsa Carbone of North Jersey and Laura Sheers of both Michigan and Florida, his grandchildren, Nick Jensen and Dustin Jensen and his four great grandchildren, Kylie, Bryce, Benjamin and Joey.
