James Henry (Jr.) Whitaker

James Henry Whitaker Jr., 78, of Laurence Harbor, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday morning, August 20, 2018.  James was born on July 1, 1940 in Jersey City, New Jersey, where he grew up.  In 1970, he relocated to Bayonne, New Jersey, where he started his family and in 1987, settled in Hopatcong, New Jersey.  Recently, James moved to Laurence Harbor, New Jersey.  Before retirement, James worked as as Printer for Command Webb Company in Secaucus, New Jersey for many years.  He was also a proud United States Navy Veteran.

He was predeceased by his parents, Ruth (Graham) and James Henry Whitaker Sr, his former wife, Anne Garrison, his sister, Patricia Gillen and his son-in-law, Richard Kimball.  James is survived by his loving children, Colleen Boruch and her husband, Robert, of Old Bridge, New Jersey, Doris Zito and her husband, Robert, of Tewksbury, New Jersey, Margaret Kimball of California, Donald Stoveken Jr., and James Henry Whitaker III and his wife, Anna Gromadzka-Whitaker, of Bayonne, New Jersey.  He is also survived by his dear sisters, Beverly McInerney and Janet Stavale and her husband, Anthony, along with 10 cherished grandchildren, 7 adored great grandchildren and many treasured nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.  James will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Thursday morning, August 23, 2018 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A prayer service will be offered on Thursday morning at approximately 10:00 AM.  Interment will follow at Fair View Cemetery, 456 State Highway 35, Middletown, New Jersey 07701.
