James V. Prendergast, 89, of Keyport, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Care One King James in Atlantic Highlands. James was born on April 6, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York, where he grew up. In 1963, he settled in Keyport, New Jersey. On April 18, 1964, James and his beloved wife, Rose Marie, were married and began their life and family together in Keyport. Before his retirement, James worked as a carpenter for H. Copeland and Sons for many years. He was also a proud United States Navy Veteran, having served our country during the Korean Conflict. Above all else, James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
He was predeceased by his parents, Martin and Sadie (Tonry) Prendergast, his loving son, Robert Prendergast, and his dear siblings, Martin, Michael, John, and Charles. James is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 58 years, Rose Marie (DePalma) Prendergast, his loving daughter, Susan Simmons and her husband, Steven, of Laurence Habor, his cherished grandchildren, Amanda Petrozelli and her husband, Matthew, Jessica Prendergast, and Faith Corcoran, and his adored great grandchildren, Robert, Peyton, Penny, Raelynn, and Everleigh.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, Jun 24th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday morning, June 25th from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A prayer service will be offered at the funeral home on Friday evening during visitation hours. Interment will follow Saturday morning’s visitation at approximately 11:00 AM at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Middletown/Red Bank.
