James W. Jeffcoat, 86, of Keyport, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Anchor Care and Rehabilitation Center, Hazlet, New Jersey.
James was born on September 16, 1936 in Swansea, South Carolina. Over the course of many years, James moved from South Carolina to Florida and back to South Carolina. James met the love of his life, Mildred (nee Dixon), they were wed on May 12, 1959. They moved to the Aberdeen/Keyport area and together they raised their family of six children. James was an accomplished Heavy Equipment Operator, working many years for Best Block and eventually retiring from Anchor Concrete in Brick, New Jersey.
James loved reading, listening to gospel and jazz music, doing crossword puzzles, and cheering for the Green Bay Packers . Most of all James loved spending time with his family and sharing with them his “life stories”. James was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother. He will always be missed and loved but never forgotten.
James is predeceased by his beloved parents, Nathaniel and Mattie (Gibbs) Jeffcoat, his brothers Nathaniel Jeffcoat, Melvin Jeffcoat, Rosevelt Jeffcoat, sisters, Annie Ruth “Mae” Jeffcoat, Lucy Rivera and Shirley Woodley.
He is survived by his devoted wife Mildred (Dixon) Jeffcoat, his loving children, James W. Jeffcoat Jr. of Frisco, Texas, Jeffrey A. Jeffcoat and his wife Elle of Ferris, Texas, John K. Jeffcoat of Keyport, New Jersey, Margaret L. Rogers, and her husband Dwight of Freehold, New Jersey, Dr. Jerome Jeffcoat and his wife Dameca of Phoenix, Arizona and Jerold M. Jeffcoat and his wife Krystal of San Tan Valley, Arizona, caring siblings, Mattie Ross and her husband Norman, Jonathan Jeffcoat and his wife Arlene of Delaware, Matthew Jeffcoat of Delaware and Esau Canty of Pennsylvania, his cherished twenty two grandchildren and his adoring five great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 6-8 pm and on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, with a funeral service to be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 3269 State Highway 35/North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. Interment will follow at Green Grove Cemetery, Green Grove Ave., Keyport, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of James to the “Charity of Your Choice” would be greatly appreciated.
