James F. Higgins Sr., 83, of Keansburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Bayside Manor, Keansburg. He was born on June 17, 1940, in Manhattan, New York. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. He met and later married the love of his life, Lucy Higgins, on September 4, 1966. They moved from Staten Island to Hazlet, New Jersey in 2004. He was a parishioner of Saint Benedict Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel, New Jersey. James retired after many years of working as a dedicated mason for various companies in the local industry. He was a member of the American Legion, Post No. 23, Keyport, New Jersey. James took pride in his Irish heritage and was an avid golfer.
James is predeceased by his beloved parents, Patrick and Elma (Fischer) Higgins, his loving wife Lucy (Spinelli) Higgins, a brother, Patrick Higgins and a sister Ginger McWilliams. He is survived by his devoted sons, James F. Higgins Jr and his wife Jeanie of Hazlet, New Jersey and Frank M. Higgins and his wife Michele of Middletown, New Jersey, cherished grandchildren, Katie Higgins, Samantha Higgins, James Higgins, Jason Higgins and Matthew Higgins. He was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, August 25, 2023, from 3:00PM to 7:00PM and on Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 10:45 AM until 11:30 AM, at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 AM, on Saturday morning. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, 360 Broadway, Keyport, New Jersey.
